Based in Austin, Texas, we perform music from the time of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Haydn and Mozart. We use instruments and performance practices appropriate to the period, so you experience the music exactly as the composers experienced it. Winner of multiple Austin Critics Table awards including Best Ensemble, La Follia is, in the words of the Austin American-Statesman, “Baroque done right.”
“Be assured we WILL have a 2020-21 season. It will be our 40th anniversary season, in fact. We will again perform great music at the highest artistic level to uplift us all.”
What’s New
At Home with a Herd of Harpsichords
Keith Womer, director of La Follia Austin Baroque, recently recorded a 30 minute video piece for KMFA Classical 89.5’s FaceBook Live series “Sound Ideas”. In it, he explores three of the harpsichords used in La Follia’s popular “Herd of Harpsichords” concerts, currently corralled at his home in Round Rock.
Learn what makes a harpsichord different than a piano, what makes Italian, French, and Franco-Flemish harpsichords different from one another, and what gives all harpsichords their special, magical sound. Included is a Q&A which was conducted after the presentation.
