Our 2020-21 Concert Season: celebrating 40 years of “Baroque Done Right.”
This is La Follia’s 40th anniversary season, and it finds us in challenging times. More than ever, we need the solace, enrichment, and inspiration that comes from the arts. La Follia is responding to this challenge with an imaginative season which combines online concerts with a commitment to return to live performance as soon as safely possible in 2021, all while supporting our local musicians.
in the midst of these challenges, we are delighted to announce that internationally renowned artist Anton Nel will be joining us for all concerts this season. In any time, Anton’s music-making is inspirational and his optimistic spirit irrepressible. In this troubled time, we need to hear and see him more than ever. Thank you, Anton.
In October and November, we will perform concerts which will only be available online (i.e., no live audience). These concerts will use multiple cameras in HD and CD quality audio to provide you the best possible experience.
To purchase tickets, click on the concert that interests you below, or select the concert package for best pricing for multiple viewers for both concerts.
La Follia contrasts chamber music of the Baroque and Classical period. We will perform a viola da gamba sonata by Bach and a trio sonata by Telemann, then contrast that with violin sonata K. 403 by Mozart and the trio sonata op. 11 by Beethoven. Performing are La Follia principals Stephen Redfield on violin and Eric Smith on gamba and cello, Keith Womer on harpsichord, and Anton Nel on fortepiano.
