Baroque Greatest Hits

Austin's classical music station KMFA 89.5 will be broadcasting an hour-long program featuring highlights from La Follia's September, 2013 "Baroque Greatest Hits" concert.  This concert featured Baroque music selected by KMFA listeners as their top picks.

More information from the original concert press release:

La Follia performs the greatest hits from the Baroque, as chosen by KMFA listeners. The Pachelbel Canon?  Of course.  Vivaldi's Four Seasons?  Absolutely. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor?   Yes!  And many other favorites.  Sara Hessel, music director at KMFA, hosts this gala event.

When KMFA recently asked their listeners to vote for a list of classical favorites, we at La Follia were delighted at how many Baroque masterworks made the grade. But then we thought: how seldom do we have an opportunity to hear these works performed live, in one show.  So, in partnership with KMFA, we are offering this spectacular gala concert packed with your chosen favorites.

On the program: Vivaldi's Autumn from The Four Seasons; Handel's Water Music Suite no. 3; Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Aria from the Goldberg Variations, and arias from B minor Mass; Pachelbel's Canon; and closing with Bach's rousing Brandenburg no. 2.

If you miss this, you will be left with only your "greatest hits" CD secretly hidden away in your music collection. Forget that. Come out and join your friends in this shameless celebration!
